#KimTiu reviews the 2015 Primetime Emmy nominations!

Drama Guest Actor Showtime

  1. Archer, Bob’s Burgers, Over the Garden Wall, South Park, and The Simpsons all scored nominations for Outstanding Animated Program. Treehouse of Horror XXV was decent for a recent Simpsons episode but I’d take that out for Gravity Falls. I’d replace South Park with The Legend of Korra’s 4th season episodes.
  2. For Outstanding Short-Format Animated Program, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe all scored deserved nominations. However, why “Jake the Brick” for Adventure Time? Literally half of Season 6 were more worthy of nominations than this ho-hum episode.
  3. The 72nd Golden Globe Awards got nominated. They should win since it’s Tina and Amy’s last.
  4. No Werner Herzog in Parks and Recreation nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series?! Come on! Might as well just give the award to underrated comedian Jon Hamm.
  5. Beau Bridges in Masters of Sex should win for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series and the underrated Rachel Brosnahan as Rachel Posner in House of Cards for Guest Actress. Diana Rigg was a welcome re-nomination but her material in Game of Thrones wasn’t as memorable this time around.
  6. Game of Thrones and Mad Men or The Knick should win Outstanding Production Design Emmys.
  7. Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series should go to either Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt or Transparent. For Drama, definitely Orange Is The New Black.
  8. “Hardhome” from Game of Thrones for Cinematography please.
  9. #LikeAGirl should definitely win Outstanding Commercial. Period.
  10. Manhattan, Marvel’s Daredevil, and Olive Kitteridge all scored deserved nominations for Oustanding Main Title Design but Marco Polo got snubbed!
  11. Of all the possible Flash episodes to get nominated for Outstanding Special Visual Effects, they chose the highly underwhelming “Grodd Lives”. Come on! “The Man in Yellow Suit” was way better than that. I can understand why Game of Thrones would get nominated for “The Dance of Dragons” but Drogon’s rendering was nothing compared to the White Walkers on “Hardhome”!
  12. For Outstanding Stunt Coordination, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community, and Game of Thrones all scored deserved nominations for Comedy and Drama respectively.
