Kodi Smit-McPhee is the new Nightcrawler!

Despite Bryan Singer’s vagueness on the subject and Alan Cumming’s noticeable absence from both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past,  one of the most beloved mutants is now returning to the big screen!

The blue-skinned mutant will now be played by franchise newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, ParaNorman) who will debut in X-Men: Apocalypse, set to release on May 2016.

Singer took to his official Instagram account for the announcement:

Excited to welcome @kodismitmcphee to the cast of #XmenApocalypse as young #Nightcrawler. @alexvaughanphoto
